Sergei Sirotkin, Member of the CEC of Russia, took part in the international observation of the voting in the second round of the Presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova.
It can be recalled that the Member of the CEC of Russia worked in Moldova in the Presidential elections on 1 November 2020 with the Observer mission from the Commonwealth of Independent States and at the invitation of the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova Dorin Cimil. Since none of the candidates at that time won more than 50% of the votes in the first round of elections, a second round was scheduled for November 15.
During the visit, Sergei Sirotkin met with the leadership of the CEC of Moldova and with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov.
On the election day, Sergei Sirotkin visited polling stations in Chisinau, the villages of Suruchany, Kondritsa, Cypriana.
“Voting in the second round of the presidential elections in Moldova is proceeding without violations, the turnout has increased compared to the first round of elections,” the Member of the CEC of Russia told reporters. "The elections are held in a calm atmosphere, the commissions are provided with the necessary technical equipment, all sanitary safety measures are being observed against the background of the spread of COVID-19."
