(Interview published on ARS-Press website on April 1, 2019)
The interview refutes some persistent myths about the extent to which Russian legislation restricts the media. Informational support of elections is a very sensitive area, and sometimes the maintenance of such a myth can be used by the media to refuse to comply with the law when covering the elections. The thesis that the electoral legislation does not cover the election campaign is easily refuted.
The legislative norms do not prohibit coverage of the election campaign. On the contrary, they are aimed at ensuring that the campaign is covered in the media widely, not unilaterally.
